The illusion behind the panic
Mercury never truly reverses. A few times each year, Earth overtakes it in orbit, and from our viewpoint the planet appears to loop backward across the sky — an optical effect called apparent retrograde motion.
Because Mercury governs communication, travel, contracts and devices, astrologers read this window as a time when those areas ask for a second look.
What it tends to stir up
- Crossed wires, delayed replies and re-sent messages
- Travel and scheduling hiccups
- Old people, projects and ideas circling back around
Retrograde is not a curse — it's a review. The prefix that fits it best is "re-".
How to work with it
Lean into the "re-" words: revise, revisit, reconnect, reflect. Back up your files, read the fine print before signing, and confirm plans twice. It's a better window for finishing than for launching.
